I cooked rice!
It's called Rice with Gardules (also known as pidgeon peas). First, I covered the bottom of the pot with olive oil. Then, I added sofrito, (already prepared by my mom) which is a flavoring composed of onions, peppers, garlic, and cilantro. This flavoring is mostly for the rice. Then, I added tomato sauce, which also added to the flavoring. This was all mixed together, then added to with the gardules and the rice. I continued to mix this together, and then added the pork (also prepared by my mom). After some more mixture, I added about 3 cups of water. Then, some more mixing, and I added some salt to the mixture until the mixture had the right amount of salt. I put the cover on and let it boil for a half hour and then it was finished and ready to be eaten by my family...there's still some leftover I think...
