What's the deal with industrialized food?

When we went to the supermarket, I used the economic and nutritional lenses to examine the food. To do that, I looked at the price tags and nutrition facts on the packaging of each item and came up with this:
Morton Williams Cheesecake, $11.95
2 liter Pepsi, $1.75
-100 cal
-0 fat
-25 mg sodium
-27 g sugar
-0 protein
Ocean spray, $4.75
-0 fat
-35 mg sodium
-50 mg potassium
-35 mg sugar
-0 protein
Chips ahoy chuncky, $4.19
-4.5 g fat
-0 cholesterol
-55 mg sodium
-less than 1 g protein
Steak, $349/lb, 0.96 lbs, $3.35
Ground beef $2.99/lb, 1.22 lbs, $3.65
Quarted legs $0.99/lb, 2.30 lb, $228
Bunch carrots (4-5 per bunch medium sized), $1.69
Loose carrots (single, larger carrots), $1.99

Possible questions:
-How much does it cost for me?
-How much did it cost for the store?
-How much did it cost to produce it?
-How is this going to affect my body?
-Will I regret eating this?

Fast Food

For this assignment, I went into a 7-11. I bought a cup of hot chocolate, and a cinnimon roll. I got the hot chocolate out of a machine and added little marshmallows. I'm not sure if that actually changed the taste, but by the time i got home they were all melted. It did taste slightly sweeter I think. The cinnimon roll was extremely sweet, and it was pleasantly soft. It felt good eating at the time, but now it's a few hours after eating it, and I'm not feeling so great. It's pretty much all I had to eat today, and I think that was way too much sugar for my meal of the day. At the time it was so tempting. I don't normally eat stuff like this, in fact, I haven't in a while. I don't intend to again after this.

2 Questions about food

1. Which foods seem healthier to you? If you had infinite time, skill, and money, what would your 3 day menu be?
Fruits and vegies seem healthy to me. Well-cooked meat as well for the most part. I'd really only trust home-cooked meat. Snacks like chips and candy, stuff like that is unhealthy if eaten too much.

The first day would be fresh, ripe mangoes for breakfast, a ham sandwich for lunch, and Rice with pork for dinner
The second day would have pancakes for breakfast, some chicken soup for lunch, and some spagetti for dinner
The third day would be scrambled eggs and bacon for brekfast, pizza for lunch, and rice with sausage (something my mom makes) for the final dinner

2. Generalize-What should people eat?
People should eat the normal stuff. Not too much junk food, and really shouldn't eat fast food. Fruits, vegies, home-cooked stuff is alright. And not too much sugar.

I cooked rice!

It's called Rice with Gardules (also known as pidgeon peas). First, I covered the bottom of the pot with olive oil. Then, I added sofrito, (already prepared by my mom) which is a flavoring composed of onions, peppers, garlic, and cilantro. This flavoring is mostly for the rice. Then, I added tomato sauce, which also added to the flavoring. This was all mixed together, then added to with the gardules and the rice. I continued to mix this together, and then added the pork (also prepared by my mom). After some more mixture, I added about 3 cups of water. Then, some more mixing, and I added some salt to the mixture until the mixture had the right amount of salt. I put the cover on and let it boil for a half hour and then it was finished and ready to be eaten by my family...there's still some leftover I think...

What's for dinner this time?

Spagetti!

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/candyLuvR92/020507_19001.jpg

When the first roll of spagetti on my fork was inserted into my mouth, it did not even touch my front teeth. It went sraight the middle of my tongue where I could feel the texture of the spagetti in my mouth. It was already soft before I even began chewing, and moist. There was no sauce on the first bite, so all I tasted was a slight hint of saltiness. I made it a point to eat the spagetti on the edge without the sauce before getting to the sauce-covered spagetti.
The sauce-covered spagetti had a more full taste of saltiness. The little bits of meat in the sauce had a kind of rubbery texture. Almost unable to break up with my teeth, but still swallowable because of the size of the little bits.
Because of the way spagetti is, it felt almost slithery going down my throat. Whereas, the chunks of meat were not as easily swallowed, still very easily.
Every time I went to take a sip of the coke, by the time the coke had reached my lips, my mouth knew what was to come. Already my mouth was watering with anticipation of the sweetness to come. When the coke entered my mouth, my taste buds were deeply satisfied and so was I. I made it a point during the meal to leave some in my cup for after I finished the meal. After the meal, I felt satisfied and content with my full stomach.

What's for dinner?

Rice and Chicken

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m51/candyLuvR92/1009965416_m1.jpg

This meal was homemade by my mother. The first bite into the chicken gave me an enjoyable salty taste. The texture of the chicken varied between the distance from the bone. The outermost layer of meat was very tough and dry, being the first layer to be cooked. The meat closer to the bone was much softer and much more moist. This meat was very easily removed from the bone. The crispy skin from the chicken served as a kind of salty side dish, and was also very enjoyable. This part of the meal was also very salty.
The rice also had a very salty taste. Of course, being of the grain family, the texture of the rice was very grainy. The beverage for the meal was a cup of coke-a-cola. The coke had a very sweet taste. It’s texture was very fizzy and carbonated.
When the meal was finished, I had a very satisfying sense of fullness. Overall this meal had the tastes of saltiness and sweetness, and a variety of textures. This meal was very fulfilling.
